I just love how Nairobians know how to have fun. You can never say you have nowhere to go spend time with friends and family because Nairobi is full of epic events every other month or weekend. Some are legendary, and some are simple. But one thing is for sure, you will have a memorable time in most of these events.

As I’ve come to experience, the best of these events are those that are seasonal, such as Blankets and Wine. These are the kind of events that people plan and live for. You miss this edition, and you’ll live to regret it till the next one comes along.

Here are just a few of these epic events that occur in Nairobi.

    Concours d’Elegance

This right here is a very old gem. You’d think it’s for the upper class, but no. This event is simply for all vintage car/bike lovers. For as long as I can remember, Concours d’Elegance has been  the best place to marvel at incredible, vintage and very rare motor vehicles and motor cycles. Ones that you will hardly ever see on the Kenyan roads. This event always takes place at the Ngong Racecourse every year. The previous one took place last month on the 25th.

    Blankets and Wine

This event was established in 2018 and has since been one of the most popular live music events in Kenya. Through this platform we have witnessed the musical prowess of some of the best and most soulful musicians in the continent including Oliver Mtukudzi, Kidum and our very own Sauti Sol, just to mention a few. The next event is to take place in December.

    Rugby 7s

Now this comes with all the crazies that the Safari Rally events are familiar with. Rugby and bear, that’s basically what this event is mostly all about and man, what fun you will have here. It usually goes on for an entire week or so and usually happens at the RFU Grounds along Ngong Road.

    The Churchill Show

We are all so very familiar with this show. Except, it’s much more fun attending the actual show as opposed to watching it on TV. This is because so much of the performances are cut out to fit the airing time on TV, and you end up missing some of the really funny moments and acts. Churchill really did a good one with this. The show is usually hosted at The Carnivore Grounds on Thursdays.
